the shorty will help with low end torque and the stock one is made for midend torque. it is all about how you drive if you like taking off at stop lights go with the shorty if you like cruising and then stomping on it to go stay stock or get the long 4 into 1. 1.5" in and 3" out. this will give you more rpms to rapout the engine faster.

unfortunately i believe the rsx type s along with many other new cars have the second cat really close to the engine. basically that means the headers have been shortened a lot. This kills the scavaging effects of the headers. Scavaging is the ability to create a low pressure area after each exhaust pulse ultilizing the harmonics of the header. So if you buy a header that still ultilizes this fast lightoff catalytic converter, you will get pretty insignificant gains. There is just not much room for gains with such short primary runners that quickly dump into the collector. But if you buy a header that eliminates the first cat but still keeps the cat under your car you will see significant gains, probably over 10hp. Ideally if you do get a header to do this you should buy a 4-2-1. This setup will give you a broader increase over the powerband and concentrates on midrange power. The 4-1 concentrates only on peak power, and results in less of a increase in the powerband with respect to the 4-2-1. So if possible get headers that delete the primary cat.
