Frankeinstien is installing a VTEC head on a non-VTEC motor. Putting the GS-R head on an LS bottem end. If you already have a non VTEC motor then you need to buy a VTEC head to put on.

An Acura Frankenstein is when you make a Non-VTEC engine into a VTEC. Most commonly an LS motoro from the Integra. Swapping the GS-R head with the LS making it an LS/VTEC. Also, swapping a K20 (Civic Si, RSX) into a bigger displacement engine like the K24 (Accord, TSX) making a happier engine.

sum ppl say frankenstein sum say hybrid. but its a mix of 2 different engines from the same engine class. like the lsvtec swap b18b or b18a bottom end with a b16 or b18c1 or b18c5 head. then theres the crvtec b20 bottom end with a b16 or b18c1 or b18c5 head. then theres the poor man type r with a gs-r bottom end and b16 head. then last but not least a k24 bottom end with a k20 head

just a non vtec bottom end mated with a vtec head that will fit. Not as good as a original vtec motor because it does not have as precise as crank, stronger internals, girdle, and under piston oil squirters. It's best to get the real thing but if your low on money the things listed above is what you do.

im not gunna retype what everyone else just said just if you try it dont use the gsr head use the type R way better hands downand ya dont just bolt the thing on and go you need new headers, intake, interanl oil pan, water pump, timing belt ect... dont expect to pay less than 500-600 dollers for that TYPE-R head (so worth the money) and probly around 2500 for instalation and keep another 500 around for parts and other complications that can occour p.s. the frankenstiens have better low end then stock VTEC's
