So misinformed these people. ALOT depends on if its auto or 5 speed. If its auto, dont waste your money. On a 5 speed model the cold air intake and FULL exhaust you will realistically see gains of 10-15 HP COMIBINED. however dont expect to see this power in the lower RPM this power is made at redline. On average throughout the powerband expect to see about 3-7 HP. THAT'S WHEEL HP.

There's nothing like 'hard cold' data to end all speculations... The first link below shows a COMPTECH dyno for a stock LS model @ 110 max hp. Adding a COMPTECH intake/exhaust bumps peak hp to 118. = an 8 HP gain. Headers add another 4 hp. And that sounds about right. (BTW, the PDF does not say that the car was tested w. CAI, but COMPTECH tends to list its dynos that way...when you see (COMPTECH) 'exhaust' mods, they're in conjunction w. CAI). The second link is for AEM's cold air system for a '99 LS model. Note how the upgrade adds 10 hp, but at the low 4,000 rpm range. Peak hp however is increased by ~ 4 hp...this squares with the COMPTECH link...about 4 HP is what you get from CAI on an LS. Note also that the AEM V2 model would provide more gains than regular CAI systems. The V2 model utilizes a 'pulse tuning' effect (akin to 'Variable Volume' Induction' [VVI] principle) in order to produce the equivalent of a mild supercharger effect. From my reviews of AEM's data applicable to the V6 Honda Accords, the AEM CAI V2 model tends to add another 20%+ above HP above their standard CAI gains. Intake/exhaust mods always improve performance & NO MATTER WHAT THE CAR...often fuel economy improves too. It's simple physics. Simply, CAI helps the motor 'breath' more efficiently, reducing restrictions through the elimiation of the resinator box, due to fewer pipe bends, and through introduction of cooler, more dense oxygen rich air. And either 'cat-back' or 'axle-back' (i.e., muffler only) modifications reduce flow restriction through the muffler and (the latter) additionally through the exhaust resonators.

It is easy to say no one here has ever actually used a dyno before. If you buy really really nice components for a naturally aspirated setup you will get a maximum of 10 horsepower out of those two mods. It will sound nice and drive a little differently but its not going to add a huge amount of horsepower.
