Default I am being offered a 2003 Acura TL with 90K miles for $8K. Towing?

company says they have had it for a year. They say it was seized by the PD because the driver had no proof of ownership, insurance or a driver's license. The towing company was been told to apply for a title and the DMV issuedthem one. The vehicle is in great condition and performs well.I don't understand why they are not asking more. Should I askfor a engine leak down test? Should I be suspicious? To good to be true? Thanks for you advise.

Even with just standard options on a base model TL the Wholesale value, which is what a car dealership would buy it for, is 12,300. I would take a good look at the vehicle and be a little suspcious of it, since there is no reason they couldn't sell it for closer to the 15k mark. My best guess is it is a salvaged title. Get the vin # and run a carfax report on it, this will tell you if the car was stolen or totaled in the past. If it has any brands on the title then it is basically worthless and 8k is not a good deal, if Carfax checks out then have a mechanic inspect it, any reputable seller will not balk at that idea, if all is good then buy that car as soon as possible!

Inspect this car closely. There should be a reason for such a low price on it. I only see 2003 TL's with 90K selling between 11-13K.
