i was told that it could cost upward of 700 dollars because it might be not be the bulb but a something that connects the bulb. i have to keep turning my lights on and off a few times to get the bulb to stay on. which tells me that is not the bulb. has anyone had a similar problem? if so how did you fix it?

It sounds like you just have a loose connector.

Take it back to the dealer, it should still be covered under the warranty. It sounds like a bad ballast (inverter). It's about $340 plus shipping plus about $100 or more for labor. You can check it by switching the ballasts and see if the problem switches to the other light. but they are hard to get to, You'll have to take the bumper off and take the headlight out. Look into the opening under the head light and look up. It has a sticker on it "high voltage".#13. Yeah your connector is loose.

Are you talking about the right headlight or inside compartment light?My 2003 CL-S has had neither such pblm light and dealer has not mentioned it. It seems to me that the bumper has to be removed to replace the headlight assembly but your pblm sounds like a loose bulb connection. Go to another Acura shop or an independent Honda mechanic.

Either the ballast or the headlight stalk (how you turn them on) is going bad.
