Default Looking to buy either a used 3.2TL or 3.2CL?

Any recommendations?Yes, I did hear about those problems, but I don't think they were in the Type-S models. Either way, I was leaning more towards the 3.2TL because I might need the space at some point and I like it slightly better.Yeah, I was reading some stuff. I was wondering if the TL has these same issues.I don't like Toyotas and since I'm 18, I'd ratehr get something that looks a bit sportier and that I can afford.

Both are superb cars and highly rated, especially by Consumer Reports. Either is a good choice. It comes down to which you want and what you want to pay.

I am just about to buy a used 3.0CL, few years older than what you are looking at. I chose to go with this generation because of the transmission problems in the second generation. You might want to check that out first.

Acura does not make good cars. Instead, you should buy a Toyota Avalon.

Either the coupe or the sedan, only difference is size, ultimately. Scotty is right that the Avalon is a good car. But Acura's are made by Honda. Honda is the largest engine manufacturer in the world, and arguably the best. Also keep in mind, NO "domestic" vehicles are actually made in the USA. Read your Consumer Reports. If you are looking for a well built vehicle, that will give you reliable, problem free transportation, stick with Honda or Toyota.

Depends on if you want 2 or 4 doors. otherwise both cars are the same. If you want a stick, a 6 speed manual transmission was available only on the 2003 CL type S. The Type S has 17" wheels vs 16" white faced gauges vs black, sportier seats, bigger sway bars. The main difference is the S has 260hp vs 225 hp. I would highly recommend spending the extra money to get the Type S. The only option available was the navigation. The TL was also offered in Japan as the Honda inspire. CL was only offered in Canada and US. If you're into modding up your car to look better, the TL has more aftermarket parts (being that it was offered in Japan) avalible than the CL. There's aftermarket parts avalible to make the TL/CL handle better and to get more horsepower. If you plan on any performance modifications, definitely get the Type S TL or CL The transmission recall includes TL/CL and TLS/CLS automatic transmissions along with the Accord, MDX, Odyssey, Pilots. They extended the warranty to 100k miles. I have a '01 CL. I should've got a CLS. But I love my car. Lots of room, nice ride, average 25mpg, about half city/half highway driving. I took the CL badges of the rear for a cleaner look, now a lot of people ask me what kind of car it is. It's not a very common car and they only made them from 01-03. And Yes the transmission failed at 80k mi. Acura replaced it under the warranry, no charge. So far so good.
