Acura wants to be "performance, luxury, and technology — in the BMW area a little bit." That would seem to indicate that Acura will leave the lower-end products to Honda from now on. he Acura RSX was an upgraded seventh generation Civic coupe. To differentiate the two models, Acura’s brandgineers gave the RSX a lower and wider stance than its Honda counterpart.

Because the base RSX models were about rhe same price as the crappy Civic Si. So Acura gave in and discontinued the RSX, because of the civic. They say that the RSX-S and the Civic Si are about rhe same ebcause they both use the K20A motor format, which outputs about 200hp. Acura also said that the Civic was cheaper and, i think more sales, so that's why the discontiuned the RSX.Which really sucks actually, i dont really like Civics, I like the RSX...And the Integra. :/

None of these people know what theyre talking about. The RSX is NOT based on the honda civic. It isnt based on the civic si either. The Acura RSX is the american version of the Honda Integra, which was sold in this country under the Acura emblem for several years. The discontinuation of the Acura RSX(Honda Integra), which is a fully Japanese engineered & built vehicle resulted from marketing strategies put forth by Acura's current executive staff, who are trying to distance themselves from the performance end and focus more on the luxury aspects of the automobile industry. And for the record, Honda/Acura didnt stop making the RSX, the simply stopped marketing them and selling them in the United States, as they are continuing to sell and market them as the Honda Integra in Japan, Canada, & South America.

My friend owns Acura dealer, sells where down. Compare to the old body style Integra you could buy a base model RS new for $13000-14500 while a base RSX 18,000-20,000 and more for the RSX type S

Although it has been a strong seller for Honda, the RSX does not fit within the confines of Acura's re-structured market strategy, formulated after the decision to take the Acura brand worldwide (previously, the Acura nameplate has appeared only in North America, elsewhere in the world the same models are sold as Hondas). With the introduction of the similarly powerful and less expensive 2006 model-year Honda Civic Si to the marketplace, the decision has been made to discontinue production of the RSX, with the final units slated to be built in summer 2006. Because of its lower pricing and longer list of available options, Honda considers the new Si to be a more viable choice for performance minded young men, who are the most common buyers of RSXs. Speculatory articles seem to indicate that a 2-door variant of the new TSX will replace the RSX as Acura's entry-level sports coupe, although it will be more luxurious, more expensive and more powerful than the RSX and will thus likely appeal to a different market segment.Dick Collier, Vice President of Public Relations at Honda Motor Co. has said that there will be no 2007 RSX. He however indirectly implied that the RSX will make its debut back into the Acura scene in the near future as Honda enthusiasts were outraged by the discontinuity of the Acura RSX. According to consumer sales, Acura took a drastic plunge after the RSX was discontinued.

To put things in simple terms. The honda civic si offers the same type of power as the rsx. Civic offers the lsd as well. Acura wants to lean towards luxury sport to compete with lexus. It would be pointless for Acura to maintain rsx production line when the civic is offering the same thing. Same car just different bodies.
