what about the other way around? if someone drives a honda, is it ok for them to call it an acura? what about lexus and toyota?

You can call it anything you want. Honda is the maker of Acura and Lexus is made by Toyota. Good Luck and GOD Bless

You can call an Acura a Honda, but not the other way around. Acura is Honda's American Luxury division and their cars are based on Hondas. (The Acura TL is basically a fancy Accord)The same goes for Lexus and Toyota. A ES 330 is a fancy Camry, a LS 470 is a fancy Avalon, a LX 470 is a fancy Land Cruiser, etc.As far as I know, you can only buy Acuras and Lexuses in the USA, whereas you can buy Hondas and Toyotas all over the place.

Kyle, that used to be correct until recently. Lexus was introduced in Japan in 2005 and Honda is planning to introduce Acura next fall or so.I concur on your answer to the question though. An Acura can be called a Honda, but not vice versa. Just like calling an apple a fruit, doesn't necessarily work the other way. An Acura is a kind of Honda.

It's perferctly fine to call an Acura a Honda. why? Because Acura is just simplily the american luxury version of Hondas. The engines are almost idential. for example...The "Acura Integra" is..well an acura in NA.And the "Honda Integra" is a Honda in Japan.They both have the same motor though, just the interior is diffrient and some sort. Somewhat like the type-r conversion.Im not so sure about luxus and toyota. But i do know toyota makes them. =D

Honda/AcuraToyota/LexusWhat the English used to call badge engineering when it was Morris/Austin/MG/Wolseley - all the same body, more or less, often the same motor, just more or less kit. Lexus is just a blinged-up Toyota. Acura is probably just blinged-up Honda. Who cares

since the tsx is called an honda accord in europe, why not? call it what you want. I personally call my tsx a acura. alot of tsx owners debadge their cars and put honda accord on them. acura is made by honda, lexus is made by toyota and infiniti is made by nissan so why not
