Its not nessessary, all you do first is decide where on the fenders you want to put them, make an outline of the portion of the the sidemarker that is going to be installed and then mark it. Protect the areas that you don't want the shavings to scratch. Then use a cutter or whatever tools you plan to use to make the cut. Then just install the sidemarkers.
