Just curious, I don't know how to crunch the numbers from the specs on the respective car manufacturers websites.I almost forgot the TL is an 2006 and the Dodge Nitro RT is obviously brand new.

well it will really come down to the driver and how fast the reaction time is. but if both are evenly matched it will come down to the power to weight ratio of the cars. Im not sure of the power or weight of either of these cars put if you do just punch them in here the closer to 1:1 you are the faster the car is. http://www.dragsource.com/index.php?...s&calctoview=7

The race would not even be close.. A Acura TL is a sport sedan and a Nitro is a SUV.. a full second does add allot and after you hit 60 the TL would pull away even father...Nitro 6.9 0-60 210-hpAcura TL 5.9 0-60 260 hp The 6MT version of the TL is even faster... Some of the other posts really did not think this through...

This is a silly question in that these vehicles aren't market competitors, not even a little. The Acura is much quicker in a straight line, and it's advantage would be even greater if the road gets twisty. The Nitro might win in the snow or on a dirt road, but on pavement? No way. Not even close.

The TL would win, and by a fair margin. You did not mention if the TL was equipped with an AT, or a MT.Here are the 'best' 0-60 stock specs on the Acura...2006 TL AT = 6.4 seconds2006 TL MT = 5.9 seconds2006 TL MT w. A-Spec package = 5.7 secondsI own an '06 TL with an AT, and have researched these specs from various websites. Though I know very little about the Dodge Nitro RT, what specs I found show it's 0-60 time at 7.4 seconds. That's actually not bad for an SUV.Since most TLs are of the AT variety & w/o the A-Spec upgrade, it's fair to say that all other things being equal, the TL should be an honest second faster than the Nitro RT. This makes sense because the TL is about 400 lbs lighter, yet while cranking the the same HP as the Dodge, the TL's power curve is flatter, meaning it's making better hp over its range. This is due to its VTEC engine's variable valve timing, it's lift electronic control (i.w., secondary, high lift cam engagement at 4,500 rpm), it's variable volume induction which provides improved low-end output, and its enhanced engine management computer programming...all this stuff to optomize engine performance providing a 'flatter' power output across the range of RPMs.Also, indeed, the faster the TL goes, the more it 'owns the road'. SUV's are basically jazzed-up truck chassis w. lousy aerodynamics (poor drag coefficients). The TL has the potential for a substantially higher top end, and it will handle worlds better near its top end over the Dodge too. Add to all that, if you're in the Dodge, hope that you don't have to slow down, or turn the wheel. Handling & braking of the SUV is atrocious compared to a sport sedan...SUV's were made for hauling lots of people & stuff...'soccer mom-mobiles'.
