Default How to hook up and power a CB radio?

I just purchased a used Cobra 19 Ultra and an antenna. I'd like to install it in my 1995 Acura Integra LS, but I have no idea how to power the unit. I read that I need to get at my fuse box, but I don't know where this is even located and even if I did I wouldn't know what to do with it once I got to it. I'd also like to hear some suggestions on where to put the antenna and the unit so that I don't have wires all over the place. Any help is much appreciated!I read in a few places that tapping into the cigarette lighter power is not always the best idea, and I'm already powering a radar detector from the cigarette lighter and occassionally a laptop via a power inverter. I've read a few other places that recommend going directly into the battery but then you run the risk of draining the battery if you forget the manually turn the unit off. My car expert friend just suggested tapping into the cigarette lighter power as that is usually fine. At his suggestion I managed to take out that part of my console and I can see the wires but I don't know how to "tap into" them. Do I have to cut the wires and splice them myself? Any opinions appreciated. Thanks!

You can go to Radio Shack and get a plug that goes in the cigarette lighter which has a power lead and ground that you connect to the cb. You can get a magnetic antenna mount and stick it on the trunk or the roof.

go to the fuse box in the car (located about a foot below and left of the steering wheel there is a pannel you can pull of that says FUSES). when looking at the fuse box, directly above the actual fuses are 4 (more or less) male faston connectors. the one all the way to left is a constant 12v, the 3rd from the left shows 12v when the car is on. depending on you, hook up the + wire to one of those with a female faston. connect a ring terminal to the ground wire, and use a screw to connect it to ground (any non painted metal)
