Default Acura RSX base model owners?

I work in the car industry, I do cosmetic paint work. I touch every car you can name, and its very hard to choose one to buy. After months, I have choosen the RSX. I have read every bio on the car, every review, owner review, have emailed owners from those reviews, checked pictures, recalls, autotrader, cars.com, looked at every angle of picture, etc.I want to know from owners.... what do you think of it? Like it? What is something you don't like about it? Any major issues or items breaking?I am 38 and to me this is like my CRX reborn again. As I owned a CRX 20 yrs ago when I was 18. So this is like a modern version of that for me. A toy to play with again. Not to rig up like the kids today do, but just to have that toy to cruise in after being stuck in a work truck all day.I am seeking your opinion of your RSX along with your age if you would. To be exact, I am looking at the Pewter 03' automatic, base. Then I'll build from there.edit: I can drive a stick fine, I do work in in the car industry. But I live in the city, a stick is not fun at 7mph on a freeway.I also know of Honda, besides my CRX, have owned 6 Accords over my life. Just don't want no. 7.

I totally LOVE my rsx, I'm 24 I however have the Type S version of the RSX. The only major issue that I've had with mine was the "2nd gear grind" but since you don't plan on getting the standard version of it, you won't have to worry about it! Something that I don't like about it is the fact that it has no armrest (at least on the Type S version) If you REALLY want to learn more about the car, go to this website/forum that I'm on, www.clubrsx.com, they have MANY parts and an awesome forum where you can ask pretty much any question about the car and get an answer from not just 1, but 80,000 other rsx owners! I'm telling you now though, the Type S is a MUCH MUCH MUCH more fun car, that extra 40hp means the world, higher revving and responds to upgrades alot better because instead of having the k20a3 engine like in the base model, it has a k20a2 (same engine that comes in the new Civic SI) . Although if you don't feel like driving a standard (even though it's SUPER easy, I've taught 3 girls on my car and thats saying something lol) If you plan on modding this car AT ALL, get the type S or you will be disappointed (or at least thats what the guys on the boards say) The car upgrades VERY well to mods though, I only have CAI, Race header, exhaust and ECU reflash and I'm hitting mid-high 13's on the drag strip. I think it rides very nice and gets very good MPG as long as you're not always getting on it like me lol I've drove alot of cars and I have to say it hasn't gotten old yet, I still love getting to drive it every chance I get. I have other things done to mine besides looking stock (I have a body kit/rims/type R wing and some other misc goodies) but it really does get me looks! People always asking what kind of car it is since I took all the badging off it, not to mention I've taken down my fair share of cars. Well hope this helped ya, if you want to know more about the car hit me up on AIM under the name IAMAHOMEY, I'll be willing to ramble on about my car some more lolEdit - To be honest, the clutch is very easy to push in and out, it's not stiff, very easy compared to some of the other cars I've driven. I only find it a pain in the arse when I'm sitting in traffic for like 45 mins or more, thats when it gets annoying, however being able to slam through the gears makes up for all that To be totally honest man, get the Type S, go take a base and a Type S for a spin, you'll be sold on the S. Also if you decide to get one and join clubrsx, hit me up with your name!

I'm a LONG time Honda/Acura owner...we've had a CRX...got an 8' ladder in it once.(hee hee...)I now own an RSX-S...(2002, bought in 2001 first one sold here in n.w. FL)The only problem in 53,000 mi's is, it ate the ac...(but I suspect the ac was bad from the start, but being a female, repairmen don't listen..)I think you'd like the S for the more hp...but if you can't drive a std...then I guess the RSX is just fine....I learned to drive at 15, in a Bug...so I've never owned an auto for a personal car.I'm 52 (will be 53 this yr !!!)We had...an Accord (htchbk first model yr out), an Integra (first model yr out) a CRX, another Accord (sedan) and now we own an RSX-S (mine) and a TSX (my husbands...std too...I made him learn to drive one just before we got married..) although he likes autos for traffic when he's in other cities. (he's also 52 and will be 53 this yr.)

I have an '03 type-s, and I have to say, I love it! I was never an import fan, until I had to get a new job and it was 75 miles from my house. Nothing can compare with a car that can get 25-26 mpg, and still run 0-60 in 6.3 seconds. It is soooo much fun to drive on the freeway, through moderate traffic. I drive through Philly metro traffic every day (the Blue Route, for those of you that know it) and honestly, I never have problems with the manual transmission. I used to hate to get stuck in traffic with my Saturn, b/c the clutch in it was a pain to push in and out, and my leg would get tired. No such problem with the Type-s. Also, it is one of the most comfortable cars I have ever driven, and I am 6'2" and 200 lbs. I am 29 btw, and it definitely makes me smile to drive it after a long day of work.

yooo ive probably done more research than u about the rsx lol. I've been searching it for 6 months and have been looking for 4 months now. i know everything about it and trust me... the base RSX is soooo bitched compared to the type S, the engine, suspension and a bunch of other factors that im sure u know yourself. the way i see it, if ur gonna go with the rsx, just go with the type S cuz its alot better and its worth the extra insurance $$ i think. I live in Canada Hamilton Ontario and after test driving the type S i was soo amazed. Im just looking around for the best deal as the dealerships try to rip u off huuuge. Lookin to get one with under 100 000km for 16- 17 grand CND. I dont know how much they are in the States tho. Type S is one of the sickest looking cars in my opinion (right after the Toyota Supra ) The handling is also amazing and the seats as said in the previous answer is so comfertable. so in conclusions.. Type S all the way!!!!!

If you buy a base RSX, you are buying a base Civic. If you buy a RSX type-S, you are buying a Civic SI. Honda and Acura are made buy the same carmaker. Acuras cost more because they are more luxery. They preform the same. They both have a 2.0-liter DOHC 16-valve inline-4

I'm 20 years old and have had two 2002 RSX's, one was a base model automatic with the 5spd sportshift, and the other was the 6spd type-s. I loved both of those cars, RSX hands down is an awesome car. I personally prefer the type-s because of that raw power, the base model however, was very convienent with the option of going into automatic or tiptronic. My base model handled very well so I could take those curvy roads when no one was around and just mash thru them. I liked my base model in every way better than the type-s EXCEPT for the power of that motor. I swapped out the block with a k24(2.4liter honda crv) and that thing was quick, that was the only thing that bugged me about the base model, it's not very quick, but if you're not looking for that then you'll be fine. Plus it has a different form of VTEC so even if you redline, it doesnt kill your gas. Botttom line, great looking car, comfortable car, great handling car, can be fast car, and great gas mileage.
