Default is it true that burned c.d's mess up your c.d changer?

i have a 99 3.5 acura rl . i have a cd changer in my trunk and all my cd's in there are burned cd's. well one day i was changing the cd and it got stuck. then i tried to take out the magazine and it was stuck so i contacted the dealership and they fixed it. well they told me that i should minimize the burned cd's that i use. its the burned cd's that mess it up. my question is ...... is it just the acura cd changer that will mess up because of the burned cd's or is it all cd changers. is there a cd changer that wont get burned cd's stuck?

The dealership is full of crap. The changer does not know the difference between a burned or bought cd. They covering up a problem with their cd changer.

You need to use iTunes. And yes the dealership is full of it. As long as you select to burn your cds as audio music files and not mp3s you will be ok using them in any cd player. Dealerships also only want you to get an oil change every 5,000 miles, I mean you practically have to get a lawyer to sue them just to get your car working properly. Don't worry.

No burned cds dont mess up your cd player, they are exact copies of the original. but if you use a cheap cd thats not made to the exacting standards of good cds. you could have a problem with them not ejecting

As long as you don't have "bad" media, burned vs store bought commercial CDs have no effect on your CD changer. Now if you use a stamper or put any type of sticky paper label on your CD's you can have problems due to improper balance, or the paper pealing off and causing problems in the unit.

a burned cd will not mess up your cd changer. the reason why the cd magazine in your car was stuck is due to the labels you put on the cd's themselves. they peel off sometimes while inside of the mag. just write the title directly on the cd with permanent marker and it should be fine.also, it says in your acura owners manual not to put any cd's with labels on them in the mag.

That's ridiculous.. that Acura changer is an alpine unit, so no there should be no problem playing burned discs. That's just the kind of funky things that happen with Honda's
