video says all....Well, if you put lower octane into ur high compression engine, it will knock. If the knock sensor detects it, it will lower the engine's compression and cause you to lose horse power. How much does it lose? probably like 15-30 or so... since the RSX S engine's compression is pretty darn high, like the Impreza STI shown in teh Video.Yeah... the first poster was right, it might become a civic, lol

I use regular gas in my 06 tsx.It has almost 9,000 miles, performs excellant and I average 32-35mpg. I previously owned two cars that recommended premium gas and I used regular- 1991 mazda mx-6 gt (turbo) and a 1998 eagle talon awd tsi (turbo) the mazda had 250,000 miles on it and the talon had 100,000+ miles on it when they were sold with the original engine, turbo, clutch, transmission and they perform excellant. We had good luck using regular gas (knock-on-wood) we plan to continue. Consumer reports and other magazines recommend regular over premium. The acura service manager told me using regular gas was o.k.

Your mpg and performance is decreased because of regular fuel. I have a 2000 Infiniti I30 and I filled up with regular once but seeing what the instruction manual said I started filling up with premium. The performance is WAY better, the engine is a lot smoother and the gas mileage has increased by at least 2mpg. In the long run it equals out to be the same since you end up paying less more frequently with regular, or more less often with premium. Plus you get top performance from your car.P.S. In the long run your engine might not live as long as it could.
