I own an '06 TL w. automatic transmission. I love it...it's a great car, fun to drive, has fantastic styling both inside and out, great quality, lots of power, and is a superb value for the dollar. I've tracked this model quite closely over the years, and I can tell you that the only issues I'm aware of are a current deal with a mis-calibration of certain Acura odometers (that over-states the milage). Acura has extended the customer warranty milage due to a lawsuit over this issue. Also, there were some with '04 models that complained about certain interior rattles. It seems this problem disappeared in the more current models. Two other things that some folks complain about: First is the relatively poor turning radius, and the second is the problem with 'torque steer'. Neither issue bothers me...they're not critical to the overall driving experience. You have to be pushing the 'envelope' to be bothered by torque steer, and the vehicle's VSA system will keep it from getting out of hand. Any FWD vehicle with a powerful motor is going to have to deal w. torque steer. Truth is, high power RWD cars have their own version of handling problems to deal with too.Overall though, the Acura TL is IMO one of the very best entry level luxury sport sedans around...it is Acura's bread 'n butter offering. The '07 year also brings back the 'Type S' version which boasts an additional 26 hp from the deployment of a tweaked 3.5L Acura RL powertrain.2008 will bring an all-new (4th) generation TL. Speculations abound & Honda plays their cards close to their chest when it comes to leaking information. However, it seems reasonable that next year's model will be either a RWD or a AWD platform, and will likely boast something around the 300 hp range. Honda will also deply its new 'Advanced VTEC' system which produces better fuel economy & more power from it's robust line of SOHC V6 engines.

I've owned mine for 18 months. I got an '05 model from new just before the '06 came out which allowed me to get a really good price on it.The problems I've had are very minor. A sensor failed in the passenger window that caused it to hesitate on auto close (manual close was fine).I've had an occasional rattle which Acura cannot seem to fix. But then I've been too lazy to take the car back over it.The biggest problem I had was that the original tires on some of the 2005 model were crap, and wore unevenly. Mine needed to be replaced at 15,000. But to their credit Acura knew about the problem and replaced all my tires for free.Other than that the ownership has been great. The car consistently gets high praise from magazines like Consumer Reports, and various online review sites. In that price range you can't do much better. The amount of stuff you get included is just incredible. If you took a BMW 3 series and tried to add the same features it would cost well over $10,000 more. You should be able to buy a good clean model for $25K, more with navigation.
