Default Acura TSX vs Audi A4?

Both of these sweet sleds cost about the same(29k)....and have similar specs. I'm torn between the two...where do you come out? TSX 2.4l 205 hpA4 2.0T 200hp

I would totally go for the TSX. Honda reliability, tons of after market parts available, easy to maintain. Its just a better deal.

I have a 2006 TSX and I absolutely love it! I have a friend with an A4 and he says the maintenance needs can be a little high. Remember, Acura is the high-end Honda, excellent quality through and through.

They may have similar specs, but the TSX comes loaded while you have to option up the A4.

You people are dreaming! The TSX doesn't compare to the refinement, and ergonomics of the A4. It's a European Accord for crying out loud. Yes, you will experience higher maintenance costs in a German car. Moreover, I would suggest forgetting about both of those cars, and getting a slightly used TL or G35. Best of luck!

The both of them are nice cars. but if come to performance the A4 will do better. Did you add in all the option in the A4? After the option i think the the A4 will be more then the TSX. What about maintenance? did you look at it? I think the A4 have a free maintenance. TSX don't have free maintenance. Also the you have to look at the insurance? And one last thing where you live? in the Northeast then the A4 is good. if not the TSX will do you fine.

Acura TSX-Bulletproof Honda reliability-Better economy-Cheaper maintenance-Good performance (Acura is a performance brand... not a luxury brand... it just turns out Acura's are more luxurious.. hehe)-Better service from your stealershipAudi A4-You can chip this beast and get another 35bhp and 90lbft of torque without doing anything but flashing the ECU.-It will cost you more to repair this monster because its an Audi. As fun as it is to drive, it will spend more time in the shop that you're going to want.-If you get a quattro it is incredibly fun to drive not to mention the fact that all wheel drive is the single greatest safety feature you can buy on any car and no one does it better than quattro. (note lowercase 'q'... Audi insists on it.)-If you've ever driven a turbocharged car... you know what a thrill it is to stand on the throttle. Naturally aspirated just won't satisfy anymore.I would usually say you get what you pay for... but honestly, the A4 can be a real POS sometimes. If you get unlucky enough to get a bad one you're gonna be really pissed off that you're spending so much time and money on fixing it. But when you are driving it, I promise you it will not disappoint... especially if you do a chip mod.The TSX is also a fantastic piece of machinery. It is nimble and does everything as promised. It will be more worry free and Acura dealers will take better care of you than Audi/VW (that's a promise). So I guess what I'm saying is, you're really comparing apples to oranges... on the one hand you get an incredibly exhilarating turbocharged headache... and on the other you get a very nice car with which you basically can't go wrong.Either way. Nice ride. (quattro is non-negotiable).

Acura TSX-it has a bigger engine with more horsepower which equals more torque AND higher revs

I've driven both vehicles. The Audi is heavier by around 200lbs, and has less horse power. Although German cars do have a pretty efficient way of getting their horse power to the road, so it's not always about the horses. You are likely to get a lot more toys on a TSX than an Audi. Japanese cars are more high tech. Germans put the money into clever engineering which will probably translate to better handling. According to Edmonds the TSX is cheaper to run at an average cost of 54c per mile versus 61c for the Audi. But perhaps the biggest issue that would sway things for me is reliability. Audi is not the car it once was. Consumer Reports gives the TSX top marks for reliability and depreciation, with a very good rating for satisfaction. The Audi which is also recommended by CR gets only an average score for reliability and customer satisfaction.Despite the extra horse power the TSX is slower, according to Consumer Reports. 0-60 in 9.2 seconds versus 8.3 seconds on the A4. Unfortunately they don't state if that is the automatic model or the manual, which would have an impact. For me it would be no contest. The local Audi dealer just closed and I could not get service any more. I've always liked Audi's but the interior of the TSX feels just a little more modern to me.Also, once you start adding options that Audi is never going to be in the same price range as the TSX, so you are choosing between a fully loaded TSX and a base model Audi, another important consideration. If I had to keep my price under $30K as I assume you do, I think I would look very seriously at a pre-owned Acura TL. It is way faster and so much more fun than the TSX. You could probably get one full loaded (they all are) and with Navigation for that price in a 2005 or maybe even 2006 model (although perhaps not with navigation). So your car would be very low mileage, still have plenty of warranty, and be a much nicer car.I think at the end of the day it is a personal preference, you are not going to go far wrong with either vehicle. Good luck!Oh, one more thing. Consider that there is a new version of the TSX due out in the fall of 2007. This means that soon after you buy your car it is going to look dated within the year, which is going to hurt its resale value, and make you feel like you are driving an 'old' car.
