As far as the buildup of the motor, my Prelude H22 has a cast aluminum oil pan, which stiffens the block, and carbon fiber cylinder liners, but both have oil cooled pistons, they are both very durable motors, I have 151k and it's still "tight".

Both engines are pretty solid and you can they're excellent if you're a boosthead. The H22 is powerful and you can do a lot with it as well as the Type R engines, but the Type R engines rev a lot higher to like about 10,000 rpm and you can really put the horsepower to work there. They are also excellent as well, but hard to find. I would go for the Type R...it has a lot of potential, and not everyone has one.

Depends on a lot of things. H22 is high torque but not built as 'bulletproof' from the factory. Type R's have great gears and high rev fun. I would go for the type R swap. You get more for your money than an H22. Plus I don't like to hack up the cars by installing all the stuff needed to facilitate a H series motor.KC
