I/H/E...Intake: you could look at a cold air intake, or short ram intake if thats how u like to roll.Headers: aftermarket ones can give you a little power boost.Exhaust: Cat-back exhausts can give you a deeper sound as well as lessen the back pressure and increase high-end power.Otherwise you could just do cosmetic mods, interior, exterior. It all depends what you want and are looking for. It's your car not mine.

I assume that since you said mods there is no need to tell you to ensure that the typical upkeep things are done (fluid changes, fresh plugs, etc.) remember also that once the performance bug bites you you're going to want to take it further so it's important to think of where you'd like to be someday with it. since 'cheap' is a relative term I'm going to assume a budget of five hundred or so which will fetch you a cold air intake and header back exhaust on eBay and a hon-data ecu perhaps. Want cheaper? for two hundred you can do without the re-flashed ecu. cheaper still? just advance your ignition timing which is free, and run premium gas. cheaper than free? sell your car and get a Plymouth horizon and a 2.5 turbo motor build it up to a 12.5 second car for 3,300 bucks and pocket the rest. really you should check the FAQ's at a Honda-head forum, they'll tell you what order to do things in.

Well, let me start by saying there is NO such thing as cheap performance. As for turbos, Honda Vtec engines are weak anyway, they don't handle turbochargers well. So thats no problem. (At least thats what I have heard.)The best "cheap" upgrade for power is NOS. HOWEVER, this is only really for "one and done" use. Its not a constant power source. Not to mention you run the risk of blowing your engine to smithereens.Well, nitty gritty, get a CAI. A cold air intake will give you a few more horses, and will let the engine breath better. Also, some good exhaust headers, a high flow cat, and a good cat back exhaust is good. I don't know of any good High Flow Cats that are ODB II compliant, but I am sure there are some. After that, there isn't much you can do that will keep engine life in good standing, give you more power, and are cheap.Upgrading the fuel system isn't a bad idea, but that requires a new fuel computer as well. A new computer will make your car a whole new machine, but it can be expensive. Also it can cause unforeseen mechanical problems later in your cars life. When it comes down to it, there are few ways to generate real power other than a TC/SC. Or larger displacement, but you can't do that. Or higher revs. Higher revving engines DO NOT last long usually. Due to the increasing forces present on the conrods during higher revs, most engines that can hit 12000 revs or more (and are pushed to that level normally) need rebuilds pretty constantly. On that note, Spoon, a japanese company, does some AMAZING things with Honda engines. Most of them end up redlining at 12 - 14k revolutions. No turbo though. The best way to increase an integras power is probably an engine swap. The RSX S- type (AKA DC5 integra) has an AMAZING engine in terms of power. Good luck getting one on the skinny though.

Best cheap mods are: Making sure car is up on maintenace; i.e. stock type NGK spark plugs and wires ($50), correct timing (slight advance may help a little on the high end)(autozone rents for free), clean fuel filter ($12). Of course timing belt and water pump, and all other non-power adding necessities. On to the mods: Intake i suggest short ram so there are no worries of sucking up water and destroying your engine . (make sure it is a good, CLEAN filter)Highflow catalytic converter (175 installed). Or gutted / race cat (free, but off road use only) Next, high flow exhaust custom @ muffler shop 2.25 is plenty big for non-turbo cars. ($120-200), of bolt on cat-back ($350-600)Then, header, small primaries and large collecter variety. These tend to extract the most power ($75-500).This is a good start. You may consider other things like clutch (250-450) Gripforce.com has 'em for cheap and they are good!Underdrive / lightened pullies and flywheels too.Hope it helps, KC
