Default Future of Acura?

The future of Acura could be very interesting. First, the redesign of the new MDX is quite stunning and features many firsts for the Acura brand including Power Tail Gate, Damper System, 300 Hp V-Tec Engine and various other options. Soon the new TSX will be coming out (later this year) and the New TL (next year). And we know the next TSX and TL will be extraordinary in perfomance, comfort and looks. What is your opinion on what the future Acura product will be like? And can't really understand the new Altima commercials comparing it to the TL and Accord which are about 4 years old... I find that funny how desperate Nissan is to compare their new car even though the TL and Accord have been out for longer.

I cant wait to see the new NSX. I think Acura will give BMW, Infiniti, and Lexus a real hard competition.

Well, not sure what to say... seems that you answered your own question and that you have a favorable opinion on Acura.I wouldn't take Nissan too seriously... like you said, they are desperate - they are the first of the Japanese "Big 3" to idle plants due to low demand (this happened in November 2006), and this month they reported fiscal earnings that were down almost 23% from the prior year, a stark contrast to Toyota's 7.3% gain and Honda's 11.6% gain.I think the real battle will be between Honda and Toyota, or Acura and Lexus. Toyota needs to win over younger people, something Honda does better. And Acura needs to win over the serious premium buyer (not just the budget premium buyer), something Lexus does better. Omitting the $20,000 RSX was a good decision, but something that should have happened a long time ago, and where is that V8 engine?* Woody W.http://automobilenews.blogspot.com

The MDX and RDX are good starts, but Acura needs to A.) Give the TSX a better engine, whether it be the turbo from the RDX or the J32 from the old generation TL. Neither Lexus nor Infiniti have any cars with 4-cylinders so Acura should at least give the TSX the turbo if it wants to keep up. B.) Give the TL AWD. Since Acura is obviously too stubborn to give it RWD, they could at least compromise and give it AWD. It doesn't matter to the true enthusiast if the TL holds more Gs on the skidpad than a G35 or Is350 (which, surprisingly enough, it actually does), all they hear is FWD. C.) This is the most obvious- Acura needs a V8. But, if the folks Honda just can't come to their senses, they should at least put a supercharger on the new J37 and make it an option on the RL and MDX, both of which could use more power. So far, the RL isn't even on the radar in luxury sedans, the TSX isn't even on the radar in upscale sedans, the RSX is dead (as well it should be), the NSX still isn't out yet, and the new Infiniti G35 is a lot better than the TL. I'm just hoping that Acura won't miss a great opportunity to blow our minds all over again like they did in 2004 with the then redesigned (and now unfortunately outdated) TL.

My mom has a 2004 Acura MDX and it's very nice. Yeah, I guess the future of Acura does look promising.

I own an 06 tsx but I think the altima is a good car also. the tsx is a 4 year old design but the tl is newer. It is a matter of what you want in a car. I preferred the acura.

I share your optimism for the Acura brand, but I really think that Acura should look into clean diesel technology that could promise substantial increases in fuel mileage and market it as an upscale technology in order to increase the popularity of clean diesels.

Acura has been extremely impressive for years now. It's amazing that their innovation persists still to this day. As mentioned above, I'm looking forward to the next gen NSX. The acura site has a lot of information about their future lineup and what to expect down the road.
