My brake pedal is extraordinarily spongy, unless I pump it, and it only does it about half the time, but I really want to get it fixed. There's not any air in the lines, and it's not the pads or rotors. I have Anti-lock brakes, and there's only about 43,000 on the car. I think it's the master cylender, but I'm not 100% sure. Can you help me?

you're exactly correct!!! i just replaced mine in a 95 GEO METRO for 1200 bucks

You need to bleed the brake lines.you could need better pads too...www.team-integra.net

1990, it could also be the brake lines, if they are old, they could give when you apply brake pressure and cause a spongy feeling.

Get a master cylinder installed ASAP before you end up wrapped around a tree.

My 1990 does the same thing when I have my a/c on. Otherwise it's ok. I haven't had mine looked at yet. I would guess it's the master cylinder too because my brakes do not need replaced yet.

It's most likely that you need to check the brake fluid level of your master cylinder. The same goes for the clutch. My clutch pedal was really weak a few days ago, so I checked the fluid in it, and it was really low. Check the fluid in it, and if it is low, use DOT3 or DOT4 brake fluid. You'll know if it's low because there will be 2 arrows on the master cylinder; a maximum arrow, and a min arrow. It should be right in between both.
