Because it can't compete there with the local luxury brands...

Acura is just Hondas American version, which makesno sense really. And no, Acura is not the same as the NSX. NSX is the model that is actually made by Honda, but in the western countries its acura NSX.

Acura is the luxury version of honda cars, just like Lexus to toyota and Infiniti to Nissan. They are a Japanese company, part of the honda motor company. It is all a matter of marketing strategy and dealership networks. The same acura cars that are in the US are sold in europe but under the honda brand. For example, the acura RL is called a Honda Legend, The acura NSX a Honda NSX and the RSX a honda integra. So Acura cars are sold in europe under the Honda badge. The US has the highest per capita car ownership in the world, to break up the company into a luxury line and a standard line obviously made sense for Honda, owing to the huge resources and market in the US. It doesn't make as much financial sense overseas so they are marketed differently. You can be sure if it comes to the stage where it would be more profitable to do things in a different way, it will be done that way.

It's just a question of marketing. Acura is the luxury line of Honda, just like Lexus is to Toyota, and Infiniti is to Nissan. In Europe they don't tend to split up the companies like how America has Ford, Mercury and Lincoln for example. In the UK a Ford is a Ford is a Ford. All that said weirdly they still have Lexus over there. It all boils down to what they believe will be profitable to them. Each country and each market is different. Certainly in England where gas is $6 a gallon there may not be much of a market for the specific Acura cars they sell here. By British standards almost all the Acuras are too thirsty. They would likely be sold as Honda's with smaller engines.
