i'm planning to buy a 94 civic hatch with a 96 integra ls motor and a tranny with 8ok on it. whats the the difference between a vtec and a non vtec?and is a 96 integra ls motor a good starter motor for a beginner like me?and whats the wheel horse power to that motor?

the LS motor is perfect for a start. You can learn how the B18 series motor works. you will redline at 6800rpm instead of the 8200rpm(?) from the VTEC. The great thing about the LS motor is that it is a great platform for a turbo or LS/VTEC hybird (very fast and high compression) Hope this helps........... also with the VTEC motor you have to run 91 octane premium fuel

the vtec engine gives u better top end if u racing the car and saves on gas, the non vtec has better tourque but worse gas milage. i would get the vtec . Oh yea with the vtec motor you looking at about 150-160 hps but only 135 on torque with the non vtec u looking at about 145-150 with 140 tourque
