It doesnt always have to not start to need a battery. sometimes there are other signs. like just a slow start. hondas turn over real quickley because of the gear reduction starter they use. And also have a distinct sound because of them. If you turn your headlights on before you start it and they go real dim then its time for a battery. You can test your battery two different ways. One is with a load tester, which you can buy at most part stores. And the other is to test the electrotisity with a hydrometer. I dont recommend however taking the caps off of a maintence free battery.
