Default Manual Tranny Question?

I drive a 98 integra and I was just wondering why right at the catch point why there is a lil spot that seems as if the car is half way in neutral and halfway in gear because the car revs high and im only going like 2 mph. A detailed explanation is prefered thanks















YOU GUYS ARE TOO QUICK TO ANSWER MY CLUTCH ISNT SLIPPING HAD IT REPLACED LAST MONTH IM WONDERING WHY FROM A 'HOW THINGS WORK' PERSPECT THE SPOT I AM TALKING ABOUT IS RIGHT AT THE SWEET SPOT WHERE IT SEEMS LIKE ITS HALF IN NEUTRAL AND HALF NOT WHEN THE CLUTCH IS ALWAY OUT I CAN BE AT 20 AT 2K RPMS!!

Yes, it's slipping. That's how it's designed. The clutch isn't an on/off switch. When taking off from a stop, you let the clutch out slowly so you don't stall the engine. This period where you're going slower than what the tach suggest you should be is when you are slipping the clutch. That doesn't mean the clutch itself is just slipping, it means you are pushing down on the pedal just enough so that the clutch disc and the pressure plate/flywheel will grab to get the car moving, but won't grab 100% and stall the car.































So yes, you are slipping the clutch.
