Default If you maintain your car transmission can it last a long time on a 99 Acura TL 3.2?

My father wants to give me his. He's kept it WELL maintained.

there is nothing to maintain in a transmission other than fluid level check in an auto transmission and many auto transmissions are now sealed with no way of checking the fluid
