Default is the motor in my 97 acura integra an interference motor?

my timing belt broke and i want to know how bad this can be. i hope its not fingers crossed

Most aren't anymore. Back in the day this was a big concern, but I don't think you have to worry.

Sorry, but the 1.8L in your 97 Integra IS an interference engine.

Depending on the speed the engine was operating and where the valve train stopped when the belt broke, it could be anywhere from new valves due to bent valve stems, to valves + pistons + ???

all honda/acura motors are interference engines. depending on what speed or what you were doing at time of timing belt failure, you may be lucky and nothing was damaged. but only way to be sure is to have a mechanic pop it open or diy...good luck































in my experience, i've seen that when people were going less than 30mph and it happened, there was small chance of bent valves. but anything over i've seen nearly 100% damage.
