Default Is there a latch system in a 2000 acura integra?

Ok so I know there is one in the back windshield but I don't know if there is one anywhere else? I'm needing to install a infant car seat in my car but not sure if it has the latch system which my car seat is saying to use? I have a four door integra....

The LATCH system is a government standard that was created so that it would be easier for parents to install car seats. Vehicles made after 2003 have factory installed lower anchors in two positions and three top tether anchors. Since your Acura is a 2000 model, it is likely that it does not have these lower anchors or top tether anchors.

Here is more information about the LATCH system; it is a very detailed website:

The good news is that you don't need the lower anchors to install a child seat. The vehicle's seat belt can be used and may be easier. Each method is just as safe as the other when properly used. In fact, there is a weight limit on the lower anchors- which is usually 40 lbs. This means that once a child is 40 lbs, the vehicle's seat belt needs to be used to install the child seat.

Here is how to install a car seat with a seat belt:

Thread the seat belt through the rear facing belt path of the infant car seat base. Buckle. If you are using a lap/ shoulder seat belt, slowly extend the belt ALL the way out. Once the seat belt is pulled all the way out, this activates the seat belt "child lock mode." Take slack out of the seat belt and feed it back into the retractor. Put your weight into the infant car seat base while you are doing this. I like to put a knee into the seat.

Sometimes the shoulder belt over time will keep feeding back into the retractor and cause the infant car seat to tip overtime. Some infant car seat bases come with a built in lock off. This lock off is only to keep a lap/shoulder seat belt tight, meaning that you do not need to lock the seat belt. The Chicco KeyFit 30, the Graco Snugride 35 base, and Britax's infant car seats have built in lock offs for their infant car seats.

If you are using just a lap only belt, thread it through the belt path, buckle. Pull tightly while pushing down on the seat. The latch plate (male end) is what pinches the belt together. Sometimes, these latchplates don't pinch the belts together and cause the car seat to loosen overtime, so to pinch it, just flip the latch plate over 180 degrees and buckle. This does mean that there will be a twist in the belt, but that is acceptable.

After doing either method, check your work- a car seat is properly installed when it moves less than 1 inch side to side and front to back at the belt path. Remember that the belt path is the spots where the seat belt is threaded through.

If you need further help, contact a child passenger safety technician in person.

Child passenger safety technicians on that website will assist you. You don't even need to register to post your question. When posting a question, it really helps to tell them the car seat model, the child's age, weight, and torso height, and the vehicle the car seat is going to be installed in.
