Default Mechanic help on acura integra 1996?

I bought my neighbors 1996 acura integra Rs knowing it had a blown head gasket. It went like 20 minutes before overheating. I drove the car like a good 10 minutes to his house no problem. And so my friend took the car and was gonna fix it/ he took the head in a they said the valves were warped. He then traded it in for a used head that's supposedly good with 117k miles on it. He put the head on and the new head gasket on. Then charged the battery (the car was sitting a couple months) at first it didn't start cuz he messed up the timing belt. Then he redid it and it started good, then the check engine light went on. Now there's no check engine light, but it shakes when it starts and dies. Now it's cranking but not even starting. I'm not sure what is going on. My neighbor said it was just the head/head gasket. The car has 134k miles

now why in the world would you buy something like that...take it to a REAL repair shop and ask them about a new engine, cause you're gonna need one.

My big concern is for the time it was cranked with the timing belt out of whack. The engine is an interference design and if the valve timing is very far off it will bend the valves. Small errors - being a tooth or two off - are not a problem. You say it "started good" at one point, suggesting it was okay on that count. If a valve is bent it will never run right.

I would start by looking at the timing. It sounds like the timing may have been right initially but has shifted. If the timing has indeed shifted it is critical to see if the timing belt has jumped.
