Maybe it just needs some maintenance or a tune up or fuel system cleaning service. If it is near 100,000 miles, he will need a transmisison oil change, new fuel filter, new spark plugs, new spark plug wires, new distributor cap and rotor, and an engine oil change with new oil filter(if he has not done so recently).
