Light Trucks Post Record Sales
TORRANCE, Calif. - Aug 01 —
Record sales of light trucks in July led Acura to 14,381*, the division announced
today. Acura year-to-date sales reached 105,921 units, an 8.0 percent decline
versus last year.
Strong sales of Acura's luxury SUV's combined to set a July record
of 6,332 for total light trucks, surpassing the previous July record of 5,499
set in 2005. The MDX was the top-selling Acura for the month, posting sales
of 4,949 units, up 7.3 percent versus last July. Year-to-date MDX sales reached
31,976 units, up 9.3 percent for the year. Additionally, the RDX posted July
sales of 1,383 units, with year-to-date sales reaching 13,666 units.
"July was a hot month for Acura SUV's as we posted our eleventh
consecutive month of record light truck sales," said Dick Colliver, executive
vice president, sales. "We anticipate sales of the MDX and RDX will continue
to sizzle well into the summer."
The TL luxury performance sedan sold 4,721 units in July, bringing its total
sales for the year to 35,756 units.
