No it isn't. Fuel prices are rising everywhere, because OPEC has raised
the price of crude, not because Shell or Petro Canada feel like screwing

You're being screwed more by your own government. Most of that 85-ish
cents per litre is tax. Here in New York we pay about $1.80 US per
gallon, or 47 cents (US, = 63 cents Canadian) per litre, and even that
already contains quite a bit of tax.

Uh, huh. And how much inflation has there been in the last 35 years? A
lot more than 85 divided by 29. Adjusted for inflation, gas is much,
*much* cheaper now than it was 35 years ago.

That's pretty amazing, since there are nowhere near 300 million people
in Canada.
