One reason, there are several others, is to insure the compressor
gets lubricated often during cold weather. Most common cause for
the failure of any AC compressor, including those in your home,
is the lack of lubrication at start up
after not being used for months. Your local HVAC tech can explain
to you the why and how to avoid the problem if you
do not want the composer coming on
