The excerpt below is from Honda parts info bulletin for the '04 Pilot.

The Honda XM radio unit for '04 does NOT use an FM modulator. There is a buss
cable directly to the factory audio unit, therefore the sound quality should be
nearly equal to CD sound.

• The XM Satellite Radio System consists of a Satellite Radio Base Kit, Satellite
Radio Antenna
Kit, Attachment Kit, and Bezel. The Satellite Radio applies only to LX and EX trim
levels and
CANNOT be installed with the CD Changer or DVD-based i-VES.
