I have a 2003 CR-V and haven't experienced that problem with my vehicle.
I did have a loaner CRV which I thought I may have heard something like
that, but since it wasn't mine I didn't pay much attention. My CRV was
built in England, the loaner was a Japanese build.
Another possiblity is noise from the disc brake pads. They tend to make
a click sound when you change direction (forward to reverse and vice versa).
There's a TSB on this issue. The dealer will change the pad clips to
eliminate the problem.
