Huh. My 2000 Accord--a jewel of engineering, 4 cylinders and manual
transmission--regularly got 35mpg going up and down the mountains in
summer with the AC on--and 75-80mph was very common.

It's no surprise that a newer design would get 34 to 37 with passengers.

It's also no surprise that your automatic trans model gets a bit
less--but 28 lifetime with mostly highway miles? Should be more than
that, I'd think, unless you had a BUNCH of very very short trips in very
cold weather in there to drag it way down.

You're stating a lifetime average. Do you have any tank to tank numbers
you can share? Did you ever get 34 to 37 on a tank, given that most of
your tanks were probably all highway miles?
