It's like Car & Driver's April fool's review of the FMC Log Skidder, "the
ride is rough but the seat is hard". The S2000 is difficult to compare to
almost any other sports car. The chassis is superb for a rag-top and its
price, the engine screams over 5000 rpm (and is lethargic below) and the
build quality can't be beat. The problem is (IMHO) that it is too much
automobile for dawdling around town; it belongs on a race track. I'm old as
well and prefer the modern MR2. A Miata is OK if you don't have long legs.
The big plus with the S2000 is that it is a high-status ride. Your friends
will envy you even as they have concluded that you've lost your mind

How
about a '59 TR3?
