It's all pros and cons. The pro being better air flow, better mileage, a
hair more power, not having to buy another air filter.
The con is initial cost and the fact the more dirt does go into your engine
and thereby your crankcase. This in fact increases engine wear and would
warrant more frequent oil changes thereby possibly negating any kind of cost
savings in not having to buy air filters. Also the extra oil changes
wouldn't necessarily be good for the environment and you would be using more
oil resources over the life of your car.
You would be better off to just use the paper filters.
