I have changed the cabin (dust & pollen) filter at 30K miles and at 60K
miles, as outlined in my manual. I haven't looked at it, and it may in
fact have become obscured in the 15K miles since then, although I doubt
it. I will look, though.

As for using recirc, it does come on from time to time, but is never set
manually. The system is set on 70 degrees fahrenheit, full auto. This
is designed to heat or cool as needed based on temperature at its
sensors. So far as I know, manual intervention is not required.
Although I haven't checked specifically for reference to this, I don't
believe the owner's manual addresses the problem. I feel certain that
it is not an ordinary occurrence. I will look for this as well, however.
