iam not trying to offend anyone but all these answers are wrong... vtec doesnt give you low end torque at low rpms or any of that and your accord doesnt come with a b16.....VTEC was designed to give you better gas mileage without having to loose power. when vtec engages-its not a switch, it engages between 4500 to 5800 rpm depending what motor you have-anyway, when vtec engages it switches from the low cam you use at low rpm to a higher cam increasing air to fuel delivery, more power. you would know if you had vtec by simply looking at your valve cover or whenver your flooring it there would be a certaing rpm range where youll feel the increase of power like a little tug. and vtec isnt engaged by the motor(mechanically) it is engaged by the ecu(the computer) i hoped i was helpful and clarified a couple things for you
