The realtime 4WD system really is a joke. First of all, it doesn't engage until the front wheels start slipping - so youre already basically out of luck by the time it does engage. Second of all, it's only capable of transferring some abysmally small amount of power to the rear wheels. If you look around on YouTube you'll find test videos where the engineers have the CR-V on a mild slope (something like 5 degrees) and take traction away from the front wheels and see if the rear wheels will power it up the slope. For the Honda AWD/4WD system it is almost never capable.
With the Honda realtime 4WD system you're basically paying extra money to add unnecessary weight to your vehicle.
Do the right thing and get a Subaru. They unquestionably have the best AWD system on the market.
