Default Re: Are Honda parts higher than Toyota parts?

I don't know about Honda vs. Toyota, but I do know that Honda parts for my 1989 Accord are TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS, and seem more expensive then my luxury $60,000 1989 BMW 735.

My examples are:
Power steering hose: expected price: $10, Honda price: $300, price paid (aftermarket): $30.
Gas tank cap: expected price: $3, Honda price: $30, price paid (aftermarket): $3.
Air conditioning compressor: expected price: (unknown), Honda price: $800, price paid (aftermarket): $400.
Windshield glass: Expected price: $100 installed. Honda price: $800 glass only. Price paid: $100 installed.
Floor mats: expected price: $100/set, Honda price: they didn't bother to make the mats available only 5 years later, BMW price: $140/set, still available 19 years later.

It seems to me that the Honda parts are 10x what I expect.

I have been extremely disappointed in our Honda Accord and would not buy another Honda. $300 for a power steering hose simply defies belief, as does the $30 gas tank cap.

The one thing I notice that Honda does well is they offer very nice alloy wheels on many of their cars.
