do compression test, if it comes up low the retest with 1 teaspoon of atf in the cylinders and retest. if compression jumps back up then its compression rings/cylinder walls worn. if not, then its valve seals. if your compression numbers are normal, but smokes on cold startup, acceleration, or decel then its vavle guide seals.
