Absolutely not. I had a B16 and I put an LS tranny on it, waaay slower. VTEC engines work better at high rpms and their tranny's keep them in that powerband. An LS tranny will drop below the powerband (where the car is accelerating nicely) and you basically have to build up power every shift. Unless you're going turbo, stick with the vtec tranny.
