This site prices methanol at about $17 a gallon (or about
$53 for a five gallon container) before shipping and
handling costs. One-tenth a gallon is needed to make a
gallon of windshield washer. So at best, one is going to
spend something more than a dollar a gallon going the
home-made route. Tack on that shipping charges are pretty
darn high these days.

This also assumes this company will ship liquids. That's
been a problem in the past. E.g. I know the usual online OEM
honda parts sites do not ship OEM coolant.
