Honda only publishes recommended shift points based on speed, not the maximum speed in any gear. you can find that out however. The Hondas all come with a rev-limiter in the Powertrain Control Module that will effectively limit engine speed when you are close to the vehicle red line. When you hit the rev limiter the car will start to surge as the PCM turns the engine ingition off and on so that you don't exceed the maximum engine speed and damage the engine. If you want to know how high you can go in any gear simply drive in that gear until the engine starts to cut in and out. then look at your speedometer and note the speed and the gear and you'll have the answer to your questionas for the recommended shift points on the Civic DX, you didn't say what year your car is but they're all about the same. for the 2000 civic the shift points are1st gear 15 mph2nd gear 27 mph3rd gear 39 mph 4th gear 53 mphyou'll go over those speeds before you hit the rev limiterhope that helps
