The TL should win by a small margin (assuming it's a 3.6L, pre-'08 CTS, and NOT a CTS-V)...The TL has a slight advantage in the HP & weight department, but is at a disadvantage in racing from a 'dig' due to its FWD design. Here again, Acura's 5 speed auto would be an advantage over the CTS's 4 speed (I didn't verify it was only a 4-speed...are you sure?). FWD designs suffer when launched under power because the car's weight shifts rearward...the front end wants to lift off. The problem is that it's the front wheels that you need glued to the ground to provide traction. So FWD cars suffer from more wheelspin on launch. I mentioned on the other post (re how to race against a CTS) that it would be better if you could agree to racing from a rolling start, where your wheelspin problem will mostly go away. Also, I would not use your 'Sport Shift' feature unless you've practiced with it a lot...it's too easy to mis-time your shifts...the transmission's processor shifts rather slowly in the SS mode. Consequently there's a bigger risk to pushing the RPMs while in 2nd gear up into the rev limiter (I've done it on my '06 TL), and if you do that, the computer kills half of your fuel injectors....it's a good way to lose a race. I'd just let the transmission do the shifting & you'll be fine. Also, don't forget to turn the VSA off, or the computer will also rob you of HP if you experience wheelspin.
