Default I need help. is it possible to remove my honda civic D series MT. without taking out the engine?

i recently installed a D series engine in my 99 civic DX coupe. the engine runs great however the clutch will not engage, so when you put it in gear the car wont move. i think it might be a problem with the carrier bearing. but i am not sure. my question is, can i remove, or swing down the tranny to gain access to the clutch pressure plate etc without removing the engine.? i have heard this is possible, any help or possible explanations for my problem would be great. thanks
