Default my '80 Accura Integra goes really slow when starting in 1st all the way to third gear. Why?

I start in 1st and it goes really really slow and takes a while to build up speed to get to 2nd, especially if I am going uphill. My r.p.m.s go high, but not my speed. Then, when I'm in 2nd it is a little better, and works best if I take my time building up speed. But it is still really slow. Finally, when I get to 3rd gear, I'm usually okay and I can then keep a fine driving speed. But I don't have to tell you all how aggravating this is. I live in a city and there is a lot of stopping and going. All the cars behind me get p.o.'d, but I can't do anything about it. I have to drive my car to work. There is no other option.I am sure that I am putting it in the right gear and I had an oil change less than 200 miles ago.Can anyone please help? I'm desperate for suggestions and I can't afford a new car right now.
