The stock filter shouldnt be cotton or at least on my 2000 honda civic it wasnt i replaced mine with a short ram intake that had a k&n filter on it. but even if your stock filter is cotton i would still upgrade it and get a k&n because you know for a fact u can reuse a k&n hope this helps ~BEN~
