Haven't seen any press releases that indicate Honda is bringing diesel to
North America... Not sure if you are in NA or not...
As far as opinions on the Fit, it drove really nice, but the pedals were far
to close together for someone with big feet like me, and the placement of the
clutch pedal was really weird, close to the middle instead of off to the left
like my civic. The seating is much higher than I am accustomed to (good
thing, it makes the vehicle feel bigger), I drive a 98 civic normally. It
feels like a light car, especially when cruising at highway speed.
The negative factors above, plus the fact that a 5-speed civic was a lower
monthly payment than a Fit due to more attractive financing rates, we went
with the 2008 civic LX (canadian trim gives you everything except fog lamps,
sunroof and leather seats).
Fuel economy is almost identical between Civic and Fit, so if you don't need
the hatchback functionality (which is very limited unless you fold the seats
down, our baby stroller barely fit in the back with the seats up), civic is
the way to go.
